Boots 1st XI begun life under 'new' managerial duo of Al Perks and Mark Whysall with a satisfactory 2 - 1 victory over a much improved Ruddington Village side at Watnall Road on Tuesday evening. This arrests a poor run of four games without a win for The Chemists and lifts them back into fourth place in the NSL table, albeit having played 3 games more than Pelican
Whilst not spectacular, everyone worked hard for each other, although a nervy last couple of minutes insued after Chris 'Chief' Hutchinson was sent off for a 'professional foul' in the 89th minute. Jack Smith's 19th goal of a productive campaign set Boots on their way but defensive hesitancy from Kyle Crofts, back from a head injury, contributed to Rudd's leveller from Miles Snape. The visitors have the experience of ex Wollaton, Dunkirk and Clifton player Tony Murray on board, plus others and they showed they are very unlikely to occupy a relegation berth by playing some excellent stuff and competing well all over the park. Boots winner came from the penalty spot with Greg Whatnall the scorer. Well done to Whistler, Al and all the lads- it's now a question of seeing how many points we can pick up until May and building for 2010/11 and if we keep competing like this we'll be fine. Greg Whatnall won a tent for being voted MOM by Rudd, with Wayne Jones picking up Whistler's MOM award
