Training is on Tuesday this week to co-incide with the 1st XI's home game with Ruddington (7.30)
Wayne Miles has stepped down as joint 1st XI manager. Wayne has decided he's taken things as far as he can and this is the right decision for all concerned. The 1st XI is under achieving currently based on the squad strength and a freshen up is required. Thanks to Wayne for his efforts in his four years in charge. Who better to provide the freshening up than the legend that is Mark 'Whistler' Whysall- who will be alongside his best mate Perksy in the dug out for the rest of the season. Whistler stood down as 2nd team boss at the end of last season due to pressure of work but those who know him know he has a unique style so its onward and upward!
The 1sts went out of the NSL Senior Cup 2 - 0 at KMW but apparently gave a much better account of themselves than the shambolic display in the league up there three weeks ago, creating one or two decent chances after gifting Welfare the lead then conceding a second late on chasing the game
Plaudits from Saturday go to the 2nds and 3rds. Must mention Murf, Ray, Truss and the 3rd team lads first with no disrespect to Taz's lads as they turned round a deficit to beat Bilborough Town Res 2 - 1. With a bare 11 and an average age of 63, Ray's tactical genius was evident as two quality finishes from Tom Groves gave us only a second league win of the season. 'Our season starts here' proclaimed Murf's text. These lads are a credit to the club in the way they play the game- their application is superb so a massive 'well done' to them
Taz's 2nd team produced back to back wins and clean sheets to see off Pelican Reserves 4 - 0 at Watnall Road. Patrick Bakone notched twice having been set up by Dean Morris and Chris Fisher, Paul Markowski slammed home his first for Boots from an acute angle with Tommy Kemp rounding off the scoring. Pelican had a man sent off for foul and abusive at 3 - 0 but this had no impact on the result
Thanks to all those continuing to show commitment to the cause- your efforts are much appreciated!
