GOLF DAY A GREAT SUCCESS: 40 'golfers' took part in the first BAFC golf day at Ruddington Grange GC- raising over £500 for the club in the process. Special thnaks go to Milo, Willy and Dick Tunney for their efforts in organising an excellent day, and to Wes Spencer from the golf club who proved to be an excellent host. First prize went to Kirsten Cowlishaw's team, with Tunney's team finishing second and Les Parker's Ilkeston based team taking third back over the border into Derbyshire. Vinny Miles from Parker's team won longest drive and Graham Fowell from Russ Brazier's team, won nearest the pin. Craig Jones easily won the wooden spoon after amassing a single point on his debut but the early money for the next event (May 2015) is on Jones as he has vowed to improve over the winter!
Half Marathon - 28th September: As a major part of our fund raising for the season, players are asked to enter the above event to raise money. Milo will have sponsorship forms available very soon. Games on the 27th have been cancelled to help with preparation. More info to follow
Training is on this Wednesday for those players not involved in the Kimberley friendly 6.45 for a 7 start @ St Mary's Rec off Redhill Road, Arnold due to Calverton FC being unavailable this week.
The NAA fixtures were published yesterday with the Reserves starting their season with a home game against Strelley Rose on 6/9 followed by away games at Netherfield Albion Reserves 13/9 and FC Geordie 20/9. The A Team start with a distant away game at Robin Hood Colts and then home games against Ashfield Athletic and Bingham Town Reserves.
The Management teams for next season have been finalised. The first team will be run by Gaz Willows, Roberto Pietreforte and Wayne Miles, the reserves by Simon Payne and Craig Jones, and the thirds by Carl Murphy and Colin Trussler.
Given last season's poor start, we are hopefully a lot better organised this time out. Having a proper training base for pre-season will help. The first team will be moving to Calverton FC's ground and should benefit from playing on a much better surface. The reserves and third team will continue to play at Gresham. Training throughout the season will take place on a Tuesday night at Monty Hind Boys Club, start time to be finalised. Pre-season friendlies have already been organised and are as follows:
26th July Allestree (1sts/2nds), 2nd August Radcliffe (1sts/2nds) Linby CW Res (2nds/3rds), 9th August Netherfield Abion (1sts/2nds) Kimberley MW A (2nds/3rds), 16th August Magdala A @ Gresham 4 pm (2nds/3rds), 20th Old Colonial FC @ Keyworth Utd 6.30 (2nds)23rd August Coopers Arms (2nds/3rds), 30th August TBA (2nds/3rds).
Further games will be added when we gauge availability and the size of the playing squad, and the ones booked for after 9th August are after the first team start in the league so the 2nds and 3rds should have a better idea of who they will have available.
Our Fantasy League came to its conclusion with Gav winning the top prize of £300 with 2390 points, Gaz won £120 with 2334, Neil won £70 with 2323, and the Kaiser £40 on 2316.
